It's our first Christmas in Kentucky. Things are different here, than back in Connecticut. The weather is warmer, the sun shines less this time of year, and shopping has been quite a challenge. Our town has just a grocery store and a few small specialty shops, but no mall, no Walmart or Target etc. There isn't even a Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks around...and if you know me, you know how much of a struggle that's been!! =) We have gotten used to driving further for things, but there are some days I just don't feel like traveling the distance. I guess it's good...I've probably saved a lot of money by sticking closer to home. ha ha Christmas will be lighter this year, but we are together as a family, and that's truly what matters. We will be alone - not knowing anyone well enough here to spend the holidays with, but that's ok. As long as my family is under the same roof, I'm a very happy camper!
For our Christmas card photos this year, I wanted to keep it simple. I looked for a big red barn, and some horses, but nothing jumped out at me in the short time we had with our son. He was home from college for a few days at Thanksgiving, so we made due with the local park and a couple friendly horses who live nearby. These are the photos I was pretty happy with. Next year I think I'll try harder to find that 'perfect' barn and maybe even some horses that cooperate a bit more.
May you have a Merry Christmas and the happiest of New Years!!!
